What do I need to do when the USB device search is not working? (When a USB device fails to be detected)

[Solution]

When a USB device fails to be detected, follow the steps below;

  1. Run Device Manager and check if a modem name starting with Samsung such as Samsung modem, Samsung USB modem, Samsung mobile modem and Samsung Mobile USB Modem show up in the modem list.
  2. To go to the Device Manager;

    -   XP:

    ①  Go to ‘Control Panel’ and ‘System’.

    ②  Select 'Hardware’ and click ‘Device Manager’

    -   Vista:

    ③  Go to ‘Control Panel’ and ‘System’

    ④  Select ‘Device Manager’

    Device Manager

  1. If the device is not detected, check if it is connected properly to the USB input. If the connection is proper, your mobile phone will display the message that the connection is successful. (Usually a small computer icon shows up at the top of the screen. It may vary depending on mobile phones.)
  1. Check the status of Bluetooth feature of your mobile phone and turn it off when your mobile phone screen does not show connection even though the USB connection is successful.
  2. -   The menu to turn off the Bluetooth feature varies depending on mobile phones. Some mobile phones display a pop-up asking if you want to turn off Bluetooth when the USB connection is made.

    -   Bluetooth must be turned off to avoid any problem that may be caused by running both USB modem and Bluetooth at the same time.

  1. Reinstall the driver or NPS.
